Historic Centre of Macau (UNESCO 1110)

A former Portuguese colony, Macau was administered by Portugal from the mid-16th century until late 1999, when it was the last remaining European colony in Asia.  Now it's one of the two Special Administrative Regions of China (the other being Hong Kong).

Macau preserves many historical properties in the urban area. The Historic Centre of Macau, which includes some twenty-five historic locations, was officially listed as a UNESCO WHS [source: Wikipedia]

UNESCO WHS: #1110 / Cultural / 2005
